Thursday 12 October 2023 | 19:00 – 20:00
St Mark’s Church, Shelton

Stoke-on-Trent based Philip Hardaker creates intricate archaeological sculptural paintings made from clay and found objects. His work has both political and ecological objectives, and is intrinsically linked with being English and celebrating the past production of Staffordshire ceramics and creativity.

Philip attended Harrogate College of Art in 1975 before gaining a first class honours degree in fine art sculpture at North Staffordshire Polytechnic. He spent time at Burslem School of Art where he was taught by Arthur Berry. Philp went on to gain his MA in fine art ceramics at London’s Royal College of Art in 1980.

In this inspiring talk, Phillip will discuss the societal issues that have informed and influenced his work over more than thirty years.
