Stoke on Clay is a 6-week community festival …

that will salute our city’s industrial heritage, showcase its present-day creative talent, and inspire the next generation of ceramic artists.

Taking place from 23 September – 05 November 2023, a series of exhibitions, workshops and community events will be held at some of North Staffordshire’s most iconic venues, including St Mark’s Church, Fenton Town Hall, Barewall Art Gallery, Clay College and Brampton Museum.

Stoke on Clay is all about 3 things:

1.
Preserving

the past

ensuring that Stoke-on-Trent’s rich industrial heritage is never forgotten.

ensuring that Stoke-on-Trent’s rich industrial heritage is never forgotten.

2.

Celebrating

the present

providing a platform to promote the work of our city’s thriving creative community.

3.

Looking to the

future

extending access to art to inspire a new generation of ceramic creators.

Building on the success of the first Stoke on Clay festival which was held on a very limited scale in 2021, this year’s event will be bigger and better. The creations of ceramic artists working in or connected to the Potteries will be exhibited at venues across the region, whilst hands-on workshops will give people of all ages the chance to try their hand at ceramic art.

Beyond this year’s festival, Stoke on Clay will be organising a year-round programme of ceramic art events across the region.

Stoke on Clay is a non-profit Community Interest Company, run entirely by volunteers. The venues for this year’s festival have been generously provided free of charge, and we are now seeking sponsor partnerships with local businesses keen to preserve our city’s industrial past and support its creative future.
